SCARBOROUGH – Scarborough police have released a list of 19 separate calls related to the recent pellet-gun spree that has seen windows broken in cars and businesses around town.

The list released Thursday is as follows:

On 04/28/11, Officer Flynn responded to HAPPY GARDEN for a Criminal Mischief complaint. At approx. 0500 hrs, an employee discovered the exterior window pane was shattered and appeared to have been shot with a pellet or BB gun. The window is double-paned and the exterior window was shattered but still intact, the interior window was not damaged. There was no pellet or BB recovered at the scene.

On 05/03/11, Dispatch received a call from HANNAFORD GENERAL OFFICE reporting over the past 6-7 weeks, possibly longer, they have had three windows broken. A marble was found in the area of the broken window, and the caller believed someone was using a slingshot to shoot marbles at the windows. All incidents have occurred on the front main entrance side and were not on surveillance video

On 05/04/11, Officer B. Nappi responded to SAWYER ST for a criminal mischief report. The homeowners reported that on 05/03 at approx. 0200 hrs, she was awakened by a loud noise which sounded like a gunshot. Later in the afternoon she discovered a gunshot through her mailbox. The mailbox was metal and had a gunshot hole on the left front side and an exit hole(s) on the back right corner. The gunshot hole appeared to have been a single shot fired from an unknown firearm.

On 05/04/11, Officer Nappi found two road signs that had been damaged by gunshots. One was on SAWYER ST, and the other was located on PLEASANT HILL RD just in from SPURWINK RD. The PLEASANT HILL RD sign had several gunshots that penetrated the metal; the SAWYER ST sign had a single shot through it.

On 05/04/11, Dispatch received a call from a female reporting that around midnight she observed a vehicle traveling very slow on BLACK POINT RD near OLD NECK RD. The vehicle passed her and continued towards SPURWINK RD, she then continued to hear multiple gunshots in the distance. She believed she heard 4-5 gunshots and was certain they were coming from a motor vehicle. The only description is that it was a car. A homeowner on SPURWINK RD reported awaking to a loud bang at approx. 0200 hrs.

On 05/16/11 at approx. 2215 hrs, Officers responded to HOLMES RD for a report of a gunshot outside the residence. A single vehicle fled the scene towards PAYNE RD after shooting a tire on a Rav4 in the driveway. The victim heard a single shot from what sounded to be a small caliber weapon. A bullet fragment was later recovered from inside the tire, and is possible a .22 caliber round.

Between 06/02 and 06/03, the flashing red light at BEECH RIDGE RD AND HOLMES RD was shot with what appears to be a .22 caliber round. The damage was reported by the Town Electrician.

On 06/19/11, Officer Tucker responded to PAYNE RD for a Criminal Mischief report. The passenger side window of their vehicle was shot out with a ball bearing that was most likely launched with a slingshot. Total loss $300.

On 06/19/11, Officer Anastasoff responded to JAMECO MILL RD for a Criminal Mischief report. Sometime overnight the rear window of their vehicle was smashed out with an unknown object. A neighbor reported hearing a loud bang and a vehicle accelerate rapidly at approx. 2350 hrs on 06/18. Total loss $500.

On 06/19/11, Officer B. Nappi responded to WOODFIELD DR for a Criminal Mischief report. A second floor window was shot with a small metal ball that had lodged between the window panes.

On 06/20/11, Officer Savage responded to JOHNSON O’HARE for a Criminal Mischief report. The outer pane of a double pane window was shot with a projectile. A ball bearing was later recovered from between the panes.

On 06/23/11, Officer B. Nappi responded to HOLMES RD for a Criminal Mischief report. A large front window of the residence was shot with what appears to be a pellet. The projectile was not recovered and did not penetrate the second pane of glass.

On 06/23/11, Officer Strout responded to HAPPY GARDEN for a Criminal Mischief report. At approx. 20:30 hrs, the front door of the business was shot and the door had a single bullet hole in the center. The door is double pane and it did not penetrate the interior pane. If the bullet had gone through both panes, the path of the bullet would have led to the cash register counter where customers were in line. Total loss $500.

On 06/23/11, Sgt Pearson responded to WENTWORTH SCHOOL for a Criminal Mischief report. Two vehicles in the parking lot had windows smashed with an unknown object.

On 06/24/11, Officer Hebert responded to HOLMES RD for a Criminal Mischief report. Sometime overnight the front picture window, storm door, and vinyl siding was shot with what appeared to be a bb’s. Total loss $290.

On 06/24/11, Officer Savage responded to HOLMES RD for a Criminal Mischief report. A truck in the driveway was struck three times on the passenger side. Two out of three pellets were recovered.

On 06/24/11, Officer Barker responded to GORHAM RD for a Criminal Mischief report. A car window was shot out sometime overnight with an unknown projectile, though it appears a pellet gun was used.

On 06/28/11, Officer Lippincott responded to CITYSIDE AUTO SALES for a Criminal Mischief report. Four vehicles had quarter-size breaks in the windshields.

On 06/30/11, Officer Weed responded to 2 CABELA BLVD for a Criminal Mischief report. The front window had been shot sometime in the past week. The building is currently unoccupied.
