ORONO – Kelly Newton tipped in a rebound 2:53 into overtime to lift the University of Maine to a 4-3 win over Albany in an America East Conference field hockey game Saturday.

Jocelyn Mitchell gave the Black Bears (11-1, 1-0 America East) a 1-0 lead 58 seconds into the game, and Newton made it 2-0 19 minutes later.

After Albany (8-4, 0-1) tied the game in the first five minutes of the second half, Maine went ahead 3-2 less than three minutes later on a goal by Mitchell.

BOWDOIN 4, CONN. COLLEGE 1: Cathleen Smith scored twice for the Polar Bears (6-0, 4-0) in a victory over the Camels (4-3, 1-3) at New London, Conn.

ST. JOSEPH’S 1, UM-FARMINGTON 0: T.J. Cowin scored 46:11 into the game as the Monks (6-2, 4-0 North Atlantic) edged UMF (4-4, 3-1) at Standish.

HAMILTON 4, BATES 1: Mary Lancaster scored three first-half goals as the Continentals (4-2, 3-2 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (2-5, 1-3) at Lewiston.

Bates pulled within 2-1 on a goal by Riley Kundtz 11:46 into the game.

TRINITY 1, COLBY 0: Hadley Duncan scored 13:59 into overtime to lift the Bantams (6-1, 5-1 NESCAC) over the Mules (1-5, 0-4) at Hartford, Conn.

WESTFIELD STATE 2, USM 0: Lauren Tavares and Jessi Gould each scored to lead the Owls (7-3, 2-3 Little East) over the Huskies (6-6, 3-2) at Westfield, Mass.

Kayla Kennedy had 10 saves for the Huskies.

UNE 4, GORDON 3: Emily Koehler scored 3:15 into overtime as the Nor’easters (11-0, 3-0 Commonwealth Coast) rallied from an early 2-1 deficit to down the Fighting Scots (5-7, 1-2) at Wenham, Mass.

UNE rallied to take a 3-2 lead on second-half goals by Michelle Oswald and Casey Clark.

EMMANUEL 1, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Kevin Shirley scored in the first overtime as the Saints (5-3-4, 2-3 GNAC) edged the Monks (6-3, 3-2) at Boston.

Kenny Grade made four saves for the Monks.

CONN. COLLEGE 1, BOWDOIN 0: Kevin O’Brien’s goal lifted the Camels (5-2, 3-2 NESCAC) past the Polar Bears (3-3-1, 0-3-1) at New London, Conn.

TRINITY 2, COLBY 0: Dan Mayernick and Anthony El-Hachem scored as the Bantams (5-1-2) cruised to a win over the Mules (4-3) at Hartford, Conn.

HAMILTON 2, BATES 1: Frank Campagno scored with 2:18 remaining as the Continentals (2-4-1, 1-4-1 NESCAC) edged the Bobcats (2-4, 0-4) at Lewiston.

John Murphy tied the game for Bates with 25:47 to play.

UMASS-BOSTON 3, USM 0: Stefanos Galouzis had a goal and an assist as the Beacons (6-3, 1-2 Little East) beat the Huskies (2-8, 2-1) at Boston.

Jeremy Turner made five saves for Southern Maine.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 1, NORTHERN MAINE CC 0: Wadhah Al-Shammari scored off an assist from Jonathan Coyne late in the first half as the Seawolves (7-2, 7-0 YSCC) edged the Falcons at South Portland.

NICHOLS 2, UNE 1: Scott Coderre scored on a header off a corner to break a 1-1 tie with 22:21 left as the Bison (6-3-1, 2-2-1 Commonwealth Coast) edged the Nor’easters (2-7, 1-3) at Dudley, Mass.

Zack Bunnell scored for UNE in the 32nd minute.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

HAMILTON 1, BATES 0: Charlotte Cosgrove’s fifth-minute goal held up as the Continentals (5-3, 3-2 NESCAC) edged the Bobcats (1-3-2, 0-3-2) at Lewiston.

TRINITY 2, COLBY 1: Shawna Altdorf scored the tying goal with one minute left in regulation, then scored in overtime to give the Bantams (4-1-2, 2-1-2 NESCAC) a win over the Mules (4-3, 1-3) at Hartford, Conn.

Maddie Tight scored for Colby.

CONN. COLLEGE 2, BOWDOIN 1: The Polar Bears (2-3-2, 0-3-2 NESCAC) suffered their third overtime loss of the season, losing to the Camels (2-3-1, 1-2-1) at New London, Conn.

Ellery Gould scored the tying goal with under seven minutes left in regulation.
