SKOWHEGAN ( AP) — Moose, bear, deer and bison dishes are on the menu at a Skowhegan church’s annual game dinner.
Today’s fifth annual wild game dinner at the Skowhegan First Church of the Nazarene features a buffet of marinated venison steaks, moose chili and sloppy joes, bison meatballs, bear meatloaf, partridge lo-Maine and a wild turkey and rice cream soup.
For those who want more tame dishes, fish and hot dogs will be served. And possibly shrimp-bear jambalaya.
It’s not your typical church dinner menu but it’s popular. Pastor Brian Hale says that despite a 12-inch snowstorm last year, 125 people were served.
The game came from church and community members.
Tickets are $15 each, with children 12 and under free.
