A gem of People Plus is the Teen Center program. In service for more than six years, the Brunswick Teen Center is on the upper floor of the 35 Union St. building and is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. for free after-school and summer programs for area youth in grades 6 to 12.

At the Brunswick Teen Center, a free snack is provided and members can watch a movie or play table tennis, pool, video games or board games, use the computers, do homework, socialize and more.

“I don’t want to be home alone after school.” “I come here to stay out of trouble!” “So I can hang out with my friends.” “Because it’s fun here!” There are all reasons we’ve heard from the youth who come to the Teen Center.

The center staff and volunteers listen well while serving as mentors to local area youth. But they can’t do it alone and need teens, parents and community members to volunteer and to join the Teen Center Council which meets once a month.

Teens can either be dropped off at the center or ride Bus 32 from Brunswick Junior High School. Teens may need a note if this is not their regular bus stop, as well as if they plan to use the Explorer Bus which is half price to students at only 50 cents a ride.
