LIMINGTON — A Monday morning fire has destroyed a two-story home in Limington, but all the occupants escaped without injury.

The fire started around 9:15 a.m. By noon, firefighters were still dousing the home, but the flames had been subdued.

Firefighters from 10 communities responded to the blaze, in part because volunteer forces were diminished on Presidents Day, according to Limington fire chief Mike Hartford.

Hartford said firefighters had to pump water from a nearby bog to fight the flames because the home, on 82 Shaving Hill Road, is in a remote part of town.

The cause is unknown, but not believed to be suspicious, Hartford said. There were five adults in the home when the fire began.
