FREEPORT — The Freeport high school and middle school winter sports awards nights were held recently.

High School

Alpine skiing — Athletic Excellence Award to Ryder Bennell and Elly Bengtsson, while Booster’s Pride & Character Awards (BPCA) went to Brady Davis and Taylor Enrico.

Recognized for being selected to the Western Maine Conference All- Conference team were Bengtsson, Bennell, Blake Enrico, Taylor Enrico and Sarah Pier.

Nordic skiing — Coach’s Awards to Julius Kruse, Zach Merrill, Lily LaMarre and Elizabeth Martin. BPCA to Laura Ramage and Ethan Roney.

Girls basketball — Most Valuable Player is Nina Davenport, while Leigh Wyman received the Coach’s Award and Alexandra Mitch the BPCA.

Davenport was named WMC First Team and Wyman Third Team.

Jayvee Athletic Excellence Awards to Jessica Perry and Naomi Otis, while jayvee BPCA to Molly Lane.

First Team Athletic Awards to Hannah Avant and Kaitlin Johnson, while First Team BPCA to Elizabeth

Kolle.

Boys basketball — Mitch Loeman and Josh Weirich received the Outstanding Player Award, and Josh Soley the BPCA.

Jayvee Excellence Awards went to Noah Butler and Ramsey Dodge, while Jayvee BPCA to Brendan Qualls.

Cheerleading — Ally Aspinall was named Most Valuable, Emilee Billings Most Improved and Danielle Morency the BPCA.

Named to the WMC All- Conference were Aspinall, Billings and Morency.

Indoor track — Taylor Saucier and Ciera Wentworth received the Finish Line Award, Harrison Stivers and Alyssa Richardson the Starting Block Award, and Lexi Dietrich and Mark Donahue the BPCA.

Stivers was also named to the WMC All-Conference squad.

WMC All- Academic Team — Chris Collins (Skimeister), Gabe Currier (indoor track), Abby Latulippe (Alpine ski), Abigail Mahoney (Nordic ski), Hali Ojala-Barrett (Nordic ski), Pier (Alpine), Laura Ramage (Nordic) and Weirich (basketball).

Emily Martin and Mia Thomas received the Max Thomas Scholarship Award, while the Freeport Alpine and Nordic ski teams were recognized for being State Class C combined champions, led by state champion Bengtsson (Slalom, Giant Slalom).

The Yarmouth/Freeport co-op girls ice hockey team also received the MPA Sportsmanship Award.

Freeport Middle

Athletic Excellence awards — Isaac Salisbury (Alpine skiing), Noah Grondin, Nina Moore, Forest McCurdy, Maddie Squib (Nordic skiing), Jack Davenport and Bryan Lee (eighth-grade boys basketball), Max Coffin and Max Doughty (A team boys basketball), Jessie Wall and Hannah Ray (eighthgrade boys basketball), Reagan Lynch and Maya Pierce (seventh-grade girls basketball), and Rebecca Cameron and Cameron Pasquale (A team girls basketball).

Sports Booster’s Pride & Character Awards — Ben Cushman and Ella Russell (Alpine skiing), Jemeyla Nelsonwood ( Nordic skiing), Brady LaFrance (eighth-grade boys basketball), Ethan Sclar (A team boys basketball), Kendra Harrison (eighth-grade girls basketball), Jessie Gray (seventh grade girls basketball) and Taylor Rinaldi (A team girls basketball).
