AUBURN — The Maine Gladiators and the Lewiston Area Youth Hockey League has decided to press on, with tryouts for the Gladiators’ travel team slated to take place at Ingersoll Ice Arena March 26-29 and April 2.

The Gladiators were originally slated to hold tryouts at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, but the recent deal with the Portland Junior Pirates program from Saco forced the moved.

The support we’ve received is amazing,” said LAYHL president Andy Guerin. “Maine’s youth hockey community obviously recognizes the value of our program.”

The Gladiators program was launched in 2006 as an advanced-level travel program for youth hockey players, serving communities in Lewiston, Auburn and the Mid-coast. The Gladiators will compete this season throughout Maine and in the Valley Hockey League in Massachusetts.

Ages 8-14 are welcome to tryout.

Registration and player evaluations for LAYHL are scheduled in late summer or early fall.
