TOPSHAM — The DaPonte String Quartet titled its spring program “Fatal Attraction.”

The program includes Franz Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” quartet.

“It’s gorgeous and deeply moving; but when the four musicians decided to couple it with Alban Berg’s ‘Lyric Suite,’ written in 1927, they worried that a piece of music that they had grown to love would be hard to bear for music lovers who so responded to the harmony of romantic music like the Schubert,” a DaPonte String Quartet release states. “And yet, the Berg is very much about romance, which the DSQ members will explain at the performances.”

Performances of the Schubert and the Berg will take place at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Church, Falmouth; at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta; and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Mid-coast Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Topsham.

General admission is $22 for adults or $18 for seniors. Concert goers age 21 and younger get in free. A special rate of $15 per person for groups of 10 or more will be introduced for these concerts.

Tickets are available at www.daponte.org or at the door at the time of the performances.

The final concerts of the winter season will be May 17 to 20, with a program that includes Beethoven, Dun and Mendelsshon.
