READING, Pa. — Leandro Castro’s ninth-inning homer gave the Reading Phillies a 4-2 Eastern League victory over the Portland Sea Dogs in the first game of an Opening Day doubleheader Thursday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Sea Dogs went ahead 2-1 in the seventh inning on Ryan Dent’s solo homer, but the Phillies tied it in the bottom half to send the game into extra innings.

The Sea Dogs collected 12 hits, with Dent going 3-for-3. Juan Carlos Linares, Kolbrin Vitek and Bryce Bentz each had two hits.

Reading tied the game 2-2 in the seventh on Jiwan James’ two-out, bases-loaded sacrifice fly.

Sebastian Valle homered in the second for Reading.

The Sea Dogs tied it 1-1 in the fourth on Oscar Tejada’s RBI single.

Portland starter Chris Balcom-Miller was sharp, allowing just three hits and one run over five innings.
