L.L. Bean is hoping to mark its 100th anniversary with another milestone: a Guinness World Record.

This weekend, during the company’s annual “Paddle- Sports Weekend,” 100 employees will attempt to get into a specially-built kayak that is nearly 500 feet long for submission to the international record-keeping body.

The attempt will take place Saturday at the L.L. Bean Paddling Center on Lower Flying Point Road at 11 a.m. and is part of the full weekend of events planned. For a full listing of the clinics and paddling events, visit http://goo.gl/q0qFQ.
