To the editor:

What is this Civil War reenactment nonsense? Why not World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.?

I hope that the fifth grade students who have been exposed to this are told that war is not free — war is not fun.

Every dead soldier was somebody’s happy baby and those same students should read the “Another ‘dumb war’” guest editorial in the same May 30 issue of The Times Record in which their Civil War re-enactment photos appeared.

I served in the Navy from 1965 to 1971. My final note of advice is: Do not enlist.
