CUB SCOUTS from Pack 648 who are working on their World Conservation Badge planted a weeping nootka cypress tree on the grounds of Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School recently. They learned about tree care, the importance of plant diversity (this cypress is a native of British Columbia) and public service. Brunswick Town Arborist Peter Baecher explains to the Cubs, and their siblings, how to handle a nursery grown tree for planting. Below, participants include, in front, Den Leader John Tower, Takoda Kimble, Tiras Kimble, Gabe Tower and Aidan Goodwin; and in back, Baecher and Troop 648 Assistant Scoutmaster Sean Callahan supervised.
