The Rev. Allen Ryan has been appointed the new pastor of St. Augustine of Canterbury Anglican Church in Old Orchard Beach. The announcement was made by the Most Rev. Brian Marsh, Bishop of the Diocese of the Northeast.

Ryan was clerk of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Portland, where he served since his ordination in 2010. He was born in Eagle Lake and grew up in Limestone. He graduated from Ricker College in Houlton, received a master’s degree in business from Husson University and studied at the Logos House of Theological Studies in Ellsworth. Ryan is a pilot and aviation professional and owner of Ryan Insurance Services in Biddeford. He also served in the Army.

The Rev. Jeffrey Monroe, rector of St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Conway, N.H., and a port and maritime chaplain in the diocese, will say his final Mass as parish vicar at 10 a.m. Sunday, followed by a parish gathering. Monroe has been at the parish since 2009. St. Augustine of Canterbury services are held at Cathedral Pines Chapel, 156 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach.

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish will offer an 18-credit online Graduate Certificate in Theology. Requirements include completion of four core courses and two electives.
