BAR HARBOR — The Scarborough 12-year-old Little League team scored four runs in each the third, fourth and fifth innings today to beat Dirigo 12-1 for the state championship.

The game was shortened to five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Zoltan Panyi’s two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning made it 12-1.

Scarborough also got two-run doubles from Owen Garrard, Ogden Timpson and Jared Brooks. Brooks was the starting pitcher and held Dirigo to three hits, striking out 10.

As the Maine champion, Scarborough advances to the New England regional tournament next week in Bristol, Conn. The winner advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
