WISCASSET

Children from around the Mid-coast area came together recently at Seeds of Knowledge Education Center in Wiscasset to attend “Catch the Writing Wave,” a writing camp led by Lisa Truesdell and Tanya Albert.

During the weeklong camp, children explored various types of writing, including narrative, descriptive, nonfiction, letter writing and poetry. They learned to identify “6 +1 Write Traits” in literature and practiced applying the traits while writing their own stories.

On the last day of camp, an Author’s Tea Party was held. Each child had the opportunity to read a piece of their writing to an audience of parents and siblings. It was a successful week for all of the young authors that attended writing camp.
