BATH — Jean Lawrence (Mains) Morris born in Portland January 12, 1929. Passed away at Parkview Hospital August 28, 2012 after a long illness.

Married and lived in Windham and owned and operated the Hilltop Restaurant on Route 302.

She was divorced from her first husband but kept the last name of Mains for the sake of her three children whom she raised and saw through college by herself.

She joined the accounting department of Maine National Bank in Portland and progressed to Assistant Manager and Manager of several Maine National Branchs in the Portland area.

In April 1980 she was promoted to Assistant Vice President, and Manager of the Bath branch of Maine National Bank where she became the first women executive in the banks of the city of Bath. She was also the first women to be invited to join the Bath Rotary Club and become Vice President, retiring when beginning to spend winters in the

Caribbean or Florida.

Jean was very active in the Bath community having served on the board of United Way, as Assistant Treasurer and longtime board member of Pinetree Society for Children, Bath Housing commission and as Co- Chair of Gov. Brenan’s Committee for Displaced Homemakers. She was known for her financial support of small businesses in the area.

Jean is survived by her husband, John H. Morris of Bath and three children; Susan Russ, Mystic, CT, Wendy Mains, Chula Vista, CA and Lendal Mains, Las Vegas, NV.

There will be no services. Instead of flowers donations to CHANS of Brunswick will be appreciated.
