Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a number of thefts reported recently.


Reported Wednesday, Dec. 5, a 1998 Yard-Man log splitter was reported taken from a yard on Augusta Road in Bowdoin. The owner noticed the splitter missing Dec. 1. 

Reported Friday, approximately $160 worth of pressure-treated fence rails and a metal chain and a sign were stolen from Surf Street in Phippsburg, Strout said.

And Monday afternoon, the sheriff’s department got a complaint that about a quarter of a cord of firewood was taken from a residence on Meadow Road in Bowdoin. 

In Lincoln County, a woodlot owner told police Monday morning that someone stole $500 worth of 8-foot logs from his lot.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the man reported that someone stole between three and four cords of wood. The wood lot is located near the Newcastle town line, off Head Tide Road, the report said.

The man reported the wood probably was stolen between Nov. 25 and Monday, the report said.
