GEORGETOWN — Henry S. Gilliam III, 24, died suddenly on Saturday, April 20, 2013 as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born in Bath on June 23, 1988, a son of Henry S. Gilliam II and Shelley L. Fritz. Henry was also known as “Lil’ Head” and “Russ.”

He attended Phippsburg and Bath schools. He began fishing at the age of ten. Henry was previously employed at Bert’s Exxon in Bath, and the Atlantic Mechanical in Wiscasset. He was a hard worker and did a lot of side jobs in the area, however, his passion was owning and operating his fishing boat named Old Levi.

Henry enjoyed lobstering with his dog Julie, hunting with his dog Jager, fishing, model cars and trucks, and working on Chevys.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Henry Gilliam Sr. and Mary Gilliam.

Henry is survived by his loving longtime girlfriend Mary Harkins of Georgetown, his mother, Shelley L. Fritz and her companion Doug Perow of Phippsburg, his father, Henry S. Gilliam II and his wife Doreen of Phippsburg, his brother, Luke Gilliam and his companion Ally Skillings of Phippsburg, his sister, Marie Gilliam and her fiancé Shawn Moyer of Phippsburg, his maternal grandparents, Vivian Merritt of Bath and Richard Fritz of Arundel, one niece, Hannah Bilodeau, several aunts, uncles and a gazillion cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A celebration of Henry’s life will be at 5 PM on Wednesday at the Phippsburg Elementary School. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery in Phippsburg. A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow at the Georgetown Community Center in Five Islands.
