PORTLAND — Portland commuters who ride their bicycle to work on Friday – National Bike to Work Day – will be rewarded with snacks, drinks and prizes.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is planning to welcome riders in Monument Square from 7-10 a.m.

Nicole Clegg, the spokeswoman for the city of Portland, said members of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be on hand.

Cyclists will have the opportunity to meet Bicycle Coalition staff, win prizes such as commuter lights and bike tools and receive tips on bike safety, Clegg said.
