Diana married John R. Gurney of Fairfield, Maine, on January 22, 1966. Together they had five children and made their home in New England, over the years, living in Waterville, Maine, Fitchburg, MA, Brunswick and Freeport, Maine.
Diana ran a home day care for many years in Freeport. Later she worked for Yarmouth and Brunswick school systems. She also worked for Parkview Hospital, where she had many friends. She was a member of the Brunswick SDA church and enjoyed volunteering as a hostess, visitor to shut-ins, patient representative, and dorm parent for students attending Pine Tree Academy in Freeport.
Diana leaves behind a sister, Patricia Jurkowski of Hyannis, MA. Brother, Marc Bourque and partner, Patti of Englewood, FL. Beloved sister and friend, Denise Maheu and husband, Karl of Waterville, ME.
Her children, Michelle Gurney of Freeport, ME, John Gurney of Jamestown, CA, Marc Gurney and partner Andrea Camerire of Melbourne, FL, Shannon Gurney and her husband Terry, his children Ryan and Wyatt of Canon City, CO, Melissa Woodbury and her husband, Duncan of Orange Park, FL.
Beloved grandchildren, Kirsten O’Hara and her husband Michael Scott of Colorado Springs, CO, Ivan O’Hara of Winter Harbor, ME, and Heather Gurney of Melbourne, FL. Godson Todd Maheu and his partner, Mindy of Winslow, ME. Many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family wishes to thank Val and Melanie Cargill for their love, support, and visits during my mother’s illness. Claire (Gamache) Bell, Millie Haskins, and Jody Havener for their many years of friendship and support. We especially would like to thank Kimby Winters and Mariah Westrum of Winship Green for their exceptional love and care of our mother. May God Bless you all.
A private burial will be held later this year in Waterville, ME. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick or to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
