BATH — Jean L. Mitchell, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Freeport Nursing Home.

She was born in Richmond, on Dec. 17, 1930, a daughter of Walter and Alice (Lanereau) Miller. She attended Richmond schools.

She moved to the Bath area after she married Merwin Delano. Jean waitressed at many restaurants in the area. After 12 years of marriage she became a widow.

She subsequently married Joseph Daley. She was divorced from Joseph after which she then married Everett Mitchell.

She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Smith-Tobey Post in Bath where she was a Gold Star member.

She is predeceased by her parents; one son, Merwin A. Delano Jr. in March 1966 while serving in the Vietnam War; and one sister, Leota Ambrose.

She is survived by two sons, Bruce A. Delano and his longtime companion, Dawn Dreyer of Bath, and Joseph T. Mitchell and his longtime companion, Carolyn of California; four daughters, Judith A. Frees of California, Jane M. Burdick and her husband, James of California, Joanne Turner and her husband, James of California, and Mary-Lou Thomas and her husband, Robert of North Carolina; one sister, Doris Carman of Standish; several grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath, with an American Legion Auxiliary service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Cemetery in Georgetown.
