PHIPPSBURG — Herbert P. Simpson, age 77, passed away on Nov. 4, 2013, at his home in Phippsburg, as a result of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). He was born March 11, 1936, in Bath, Maine, the son of Herbert P. and Lucy Ward Simpson.

Herb was a graduate of the Brunswick High School class of 1954.

For 38 years he worked as a field service technician for the Caterpillar dealer in Portland, Maine. Then for 17 years, he was an independent contractor servicing diesel engines.

Herb was predeceased by his wife, Jane “Louise” Petrak Simpson.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Jennifer Weiss with whom he lived; a daughter, Martha and her husband Gary Meierdiercks of Islip, NY; a son Jeffrey of Bath, Maine; a sister, Millie and her husband Allan Stewart of Brunswick, Maine; Jennifer’s daughter, Amy and her husband Ken Justice of Sylvan Lake, Michigan; cousins Joe Melrose and Peter Footer; nephew, Derek Stewart and his wife Suzann; niece, Ellen Stewart and her husband Allan Wahl; and three grandnephews.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.

Services will be private.
