An Alna man was taken to a Brunswick hospital after crashing his car into a utility pole on Route 196 Tuesday night.
The crash was reported at 5:50 p.m. According to Topsham police Lt. Fred Dunn, William Dunning, 25, of Alna was driving a 2007 Pontiac east on Route 196 when his car left the roadway and struck a utility pole at the corner of Ivanhoe Drive and Route 196. The car broke the utility pole in half and left live wires hanging from the pole and on the ground along Ivanhoe Drive, Dunn said. Dunning was transported to Mid Coast Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
