Ben Brem was hired at Better Homes & Garden Real Estate/The Masiello Group in Windham.

Brem, of Windham, was previously a residential and commercial broker in the Portland area. He also owned several Army/Navy Stores including Baxter’s Army/Navy in Portland and Big Ben’s Army/Navy Store in Windham.

Jessica Lewis was hired as an attorney at Molleur Law Office.

Lewis will represent consumer and small-business debtors in chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases as well as creditors, contract counterparties and defendants with various interests in larger Chapter 11 cases. She previously worked at Bernstein Shur, Sawyer & Nelson in Portland.

Lori Perez was hired an instructor for conservation law enforcement at Unity College.

Most recently, Perez served as an investigator with the Waldo County District Attorney’s Office in Belfast, where she supervised county employees within the district attorney’s office.

Lisa Gove joined Diversified Business Communications as a marketing data analyst.

Gove was previously employed with Tyler Technologies in Yarmouth.

Guru Mohanty, M.D., joined the medical staff at Central Maine Medical Center.

Mohanty will practice with Central Maine Heart Associates in Lewiston. Prior to joining the Lewiston-Auburn medical community, he completed a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the Lahey Clinic Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in Burlington, Mass. Lahey Clinic is a Tufts University School of Medicine teaching hospital.

Rosa Turcios, M.D., a general and trauma surgeon, also joined CMMC. She is practicing with Central Maine Surgical Associates in Lewiston and is a member of the hospital’s trauma team.

Turcios previously practiced as a general and trauma surgeon with Poudre Valley Medical Group in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska.

Mathew Harvey joined the Perkins Olson law firm in Portland as a lawyer in the firm’s commercial and bankruptcy practice.

Harvey received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 20008. Prior to joining Perkins Olson, Harvey worked as an associate with Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell in Delaware.

Liz Monaghan has joined Residential Mortgage Services Inc.

Monaghan has owned Monaghan Mortgage since 2004 and has been in the mortgage industry for 30 years. She specializes in first-time home buyers, wealth and credit building, and investment properties.

Katie Bell joined the Portland-based branding company Pulp+Wire as a production manager.

Most recently, she worked as production artist and journalist at Current Publishing in Westbrook. At Pulp+Wire, Bell will be the liaison to clients and printers from the production phase to the final layout process.


The financial services firm Edward Jones has been ranked No. 1 in Magazine’s annual survey of the nation’s six largest financial services firms, according to Sherry Morrison, a financial adviser in South Portland.

For the 19th time, the firm has earned the top spot. The magazine randomly selects financial advisers nationwide and asks them to rank their firms in various categories.

Edward Jones’ overall score was 9.5 out of 10 possible points. The firm scored top marks across the board, earning near perfect scores in overall ethics (9.8) and public image (9.7).


Tara Bates, an attorney with Laskoff & Associates in Lewiston, was recently appointed to the Maine Board of Bar Overseers’ Fee Arbitration Commission as an at-large member. The commission provides an efficient means to resolve disputes between clients and attorneys regarding legal fees.
