SACO — Behind sharp-shooting reserve Isabella Robinson and Kaitlyn McCrum’s two free throws with 1.3 seconds left, Thornton Academy upset McAuley, 50-49, Tuesday night.
Thornton snapped McAuley’s 56-game win streak.
Robinson scored 11 points in a 27-4 run that put Thornton on top 46-38.
McAuley had one last surge, led by the play of Olivia Dalphonse and took the lead with 16.7 seconds left on two free throws by Ally Tartre.
TA is now 7-1. McAuley is 8-1.
Robinson, a freshman, scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half.
TA took its first lead since early in the game on a 3-pointer by Olivia Shaw at the end of the third quarter.
