MANCHESTER, N.H. — Police have arrested a 29-year-old Manchester man for allegedly placing a loaded handgun next to his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son, who then accidently shot himself.
A grand jury indicted Sonday Bishop in December, charging him with felony reckless conduct.
On Thursday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bishop on a motor vehicle stop after he was seen leaving a Manchester apartment.
Bishop and the boy’s mother had told police they didn’t know the boy was handling the .22 caliber handgun when he accidentally shot himself in November.
The child was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be OK.
Bishop is being held without bail, pending his arraignment on Friday.
