OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Peter Leith, 64, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully on Feb. 18 at his home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1950 in Fort Fairfield, to Donald and Sarah (Giggey) Leith Sr.

He was educated there and graduated from Fort Fairfield High School.

Peter served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era; he received the National Defense Service Medal and was an M-14 rifle marksman.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for the past 37 years, where he cultivated numerous friendships. He recently became a certified medical transcriptionist, a field he planned on pursuing in his retirement.

Peter could be found many times reading his Kindle or enjoying the company of his cat, Macie, and birds, Toby and Jeannie, but first and foremost, Peter was a family man. He remembered every birthday and attended every event. One might say that attending family gatherings was his favorite hobby.
