Letter to the editor: Replenish Portland salt, sand piles with street-sweeper dirt

I walk every morning and notice huge amounts of used salt and sand in mounds along the sides of streets. Would it be possible to recycle this with the same machine that sweeps the streets clean each day? Sidney RichardsonPortland
