Parents of college-bound students are invited to a free seminar at the Scarborough Municipal Building from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, entitled “How Colleges Make Admission Decisions: A Workshop for Parents of High School Students.”

What happens during college admission committee deliberations? Who gets in, denied or wait-listed? Come find out in a highly interactive, informative and fun evening as you read and evaluate sample applications as part of a mock admission committee. Discover what is in and out of an applicant’s control and why. Led by Bill McMurray, M.Ed., who has 30-plus years of college admission experience and an insider’s perspective of how admission committees work.

This session is the version for parents (no students please). The municipal building is located at 295 U.S. Route 1.

The seminar will be repeated in Portland on Thursday, June 26, from 7-9 p.m. at East End Community School, 195 North St.
