BATH — Gloria I. Berry, 84, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014. She was born in Brockton, Mass., on April 18, 1930, a daughter of Maxwell and Muriel (Walters) Brownell.

She graduated from Skowhegan High School and attended nursing school at a Boston College and was employed at a Boston hospital for a few years. She married Kenneth Berry and they resided in Conecticut and later in Pittsfield, Maine. In 1965 she moved to Bath and was employed as a LPN at a local nursing home.

Gloria had an infectious laugh, enjoyed watching the Red Sox, listening to music, traveling, summers at Old Orchard Beach with her friend Janice, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, going out for scallop dinner and especially family gatherings. She was known by many as Grammie Berry.

She is survived by three daughters, Elaine Berry of Waterville, Martha “Sukie” McGowan of Pittsfield, and Sally Berry of Bath; one son, Joe Berry and his wife Debbie of Poland, Maine; one brother, David Brownell of Sedgwick, Maine, and Florida; and five grandchildren, April Harding, Michael Sheehy, Maggie McGowan, McKensy Cronkite and Katie Cronkite, who all knew her as Grammie Berry; five great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Fonda Jordon and Lynn Beliveau .

She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Kylee Berry Gendron; one sister, Maxine Pierce; and one brother, DeWITT C. Drohat.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Bath Lodge of Elks. Condolences may be made online at www.DaigleFuneral- Home.com.
