More than a dozen households near Woodfords Corner are without water because of a water main break, according to the Portland Water District.

The break was reported around 8:15 a.m. on Ashmont Street, which connects Forest Avenue to Deering Avenue and serves as the boundary of the Oakdale and Woodfords Corner neighborhoods.

Ashmont Street has been closed to all traffic between Forest and Deering avenues, according to water district spokeswoman Michelle Clements, who said 15 households are without water.

“We expect to have the road restored by 6:30 p.m.,” Clements said.

The Portland Water District is a quasi-municipality that provides water from Sebago Lake, as well as wastewater and environmental services, to 11 Greater Portland communities.
