Michael Sears wrote Sept. 5 that Michael Michaud should replace our current Republican governor because Gov. LePage has harmed Maine (“Letter to the editor: The records that LePage has broken only hurt Maine”).

Untrue!

Our governor is all about “bringing Maine back.”

He paid the hospital bill of $750 million without raising income taxes.

Having inherited a $1.3 billion deficit in 2011, he balanced the budget and cut income taxes to zero for 70,000 low-income Mainers.

There are 22,000 new private-sector jobs. Unemployment is down from 8 percent to 5.5 percent.

The rainy day fund hasn’t been this high in decades, which means better interest rates for bond issues.

Gov. LePage has proven that he’s intellectually brilliant and a man of action on Maine’s financial stability, education, veterans issues, domestic violence, protecting our environment and more.

Look at his record: Actions speak louder than words.
