Question 1 supporters say putting bait in the woods is bad for the bears and hunting over bait should stop. So why are they trying to stop trapping and hounding, too?
A good bear hound can smell where a bear crossed the road from the back of a moving truck – and you don’t need bait to trap a bear..
These people have an agenda: to stop hunting and trapping completely. If Question 1 passes, what’s next? No dogs for upland fowl or waterfowl? Dogs can’t be used for rabbits or raccoons? Tree stands or calling spring turkeys will be unfair?
I’m 65 and have hunted since I was 7. I now hunt with my children and grandchildren. I want to keep our heritage and family tradition going.
Stop a door from being opened – vote “no” on 1 on Nov. 4. It may be your method of hunting that’s attacked next.
