Cross Insurance Arena officials hope to have a contract with an outside manager ready for the center’s board to consider next month.

The board announced late this summer that it had decided to outsource the management of the newly renovated Portland arena and had chosen to negotiate a contract with Global Spectrum, a Philadelphia-based company that runs more than 100 arenas around the country.

Dale Olmstead, the interim manager of the arena, said he has met twice with representatives of Global Spectrum, but they haven’t wrapped up the contract yet. He said he hopes a deal will be completed in time for it to be presented to the board for a vote at the trustees’ Nov. 19 meeting.

The goal is to have the contract begin in January, Olmstead said, to allow for a few weeks of transition from the arena’s local management to Global Spectrum.

Cross Insurance Arena, formerly known as the Cumberland County Civic Center, has been under local management since it opened in 1977.
