GRAY — Maria Valente had 16 points and nine rebounds Saturday to lead undefeated Gray-New Gloucester to a 59-34 victory against Yarmouth in a Western Maine Conference schoolgirl basketball game.

The Patriots (7-0) used a 17-3 run in the second period to open a 26-11 halftime lead against the Clippers (1-5).

Sara D’Appolonia scored 16 points for Yarmouth.

SACOPEE VALLEY 43, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 23: Haiden Sawyer and Abigail Hughes combined to score 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks (2-4) closed the game with a 20-5 run to pull away from the Panthers (1-5) at South Hiram.

Hannah Carr scored 14 points and Suzanna Butterfield added nine for NYA.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 61, TEMPLE ACADEMY 31: Kim Emerson scored 16 of her 24 points in the first quarter as Pine Tree Academy (6-1) downed Temple Academy (2-4) at Freeport.

The Breakers scored 26 points in the first quarter for a 20-point lead.

Emerson also had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots. Alex Goodman added 23 points with 11 rebounds.

Kiara Carr led Temple with 25 points.

YORK 86, TRAIP ACADEMY 35: Shannon Todd scored 18 points and Mia Briggs added 15 as the Wildcats (6-1) downed the Rangers (2-3) at York.

Paige McElwain added 13 points and Chloe Smedley 12 for York, which opened with a 23-8 first-quarter run.

Marina Casey and Cassidy Delano scored six points apiece for Traip.

WAYNFLETE 44, WELLS 37: Helen Gray-Bauer had 17 points and nine steals to lead Waynflete (5-1) over the Warriors (1-5) at Portland.

Waynflete took the lead for the first time when Juliana Harwood hit a jumper from the middle of the lane with 4:43 left.

Allyson O’Brien contributed 10 points for Wells.

KENNEBUNK 46, FREEPORT 34: Gabby Fogg scored 23 points as the Rams (1-6) downed Freeport (0-7) at Kennebunk.

Regan Lynch led the Falcons with eight points.

CAPE ELIZABETH/WAYNFLETE/SOUTH PORTLAND 3, BIDDEFORD 2: Kathryn Clark scored her second goal of the game to break a 2-2 tie 5:32 into the third period and lift Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland (5-4) over the Tigers (3-4) at Biddeford.

Biddeford took the lead two minutes into the game on a goal by Paige Boudreau. Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland came back to take the lead when Allison Mills and Clark scored in the first 1:39 of the second period.

Ailaina Keely tied it less than five minutes after Clark made it 2-1.

YORK 4, GORHAM/BONNY EAGLE 0: Kendall Carr provided two goals as York (7-3) shut out Gorham/Bonny Eagle (4-7) at Biddeford.

Katherine Bertolino and Ashley Karpowicz also scored.

FALMOUTH 7, PORTLAND/DEERING 0: Marcy Kittredge and Abigail Lebel each scored two goals for Falmouth (7-2) against Portland/Deering (1-8) at Portland.

SCARBOROUGH 3, CHEVERUS 2: Lily Nygren scored from Sami Shoebottom to give the Red Storm (6-2) a 3-1 lead against the Stags (4-7) at Gorham.

Kristen Murray and Lauren Topchik also scored, and Shoebottom finished with two assists for Scarborough.
