BIDDEFORD — To help families keep their New Year’s resolutions for better health and wellness, all four branches of the YMCA of Southern Maine will be opening their doors to the public to use all of their facilities, such as the gyms, weight rooms and swimming pools, and take part in more than 200 wellness classes and lessons, free of charge.

From Jan. 16 to Feb. 6, those interested in seeing how the YMCA can help them achieve overall better health can show up at any of the branches and ask the reception desk staff for a membership guest pass.

The four branches are: Pineland, at 25 Campus Drive, Suite 100, New Gloucester; Casco Bay, at 14 Old South Freeport Road, Freeport; Greater Portland, at 70 Forest Ave., Portland; and Northern York County, at 3 Pomerleau St., Biddeford.

The YMCA has decided to welcome the public for three weeks to show the community that these days it’s more than a gym, with its main emphasis and commitment being building strong children, individuals, families and communities through programs and services that promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all ”“ regardless of ability to pay.

The open days will kick off with a Family Fun Night on Jan. 16, with activities and classes for the whole family, and it will end with a Kids Night Out on Feb. 6. More details and daily updates can be found by calling 874-1111 or visiting the YMCA of Southern Maine’s Facebook page, as well as its website at www.ymcaofsouthernmaine.org.
