BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin senior captain Bryan Hurley has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Co-Player of Week.

Hurley averaged 20 points, 5.5 assists and two steals last week as the Polar Bears won a pair of games, including a NESCAC road win over rival Colby.

Hurley had a stand-out performance against the Mules, scoring 23 points, including 13 in the second half to help Bowdoin erase a nine-point halftime deficit. He also made five free throws in the final 28 seconds as the Polar Bears held on for the win.

For the week, the senior guard shot 52 percent from the field (13-25) and connected on 50 percent from 3-point range (7-of- 14).

Despite missing most of his junior season due to injury, Hurley stands fourth all-time at Bowdoin with 413 career assists. This season Hurley is averaging 10.9 points, 5.4 assists and 1.8 steals per contest.

First-year swimmer Mariah Rawding has been named the NESCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

Rawding continued her standout rookie season with five individual wins over the weekend as the Polar Bears swept NESCAC foes Trinity and Wesleyan.

On Saturday against Trinity, she won the 50-meter backstroke (28.50), the 50 freestyle (25.00) and the 100 freestyle (54.85).

Rawding followed up that performance on Sunday versus Wesleyan by winning the 100 breaststroke (1:09.2) and the 100 freestyle (54.80).
