LISBON FALLS

The Lisbon Farmers Union is looking for a few good vendors as it prepares to open its marketplace this spring.

An informational meeting for prospective vendors for the marketplace will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the MTM Rec Center in Lisbon Falls.

The marketplace will be housed in an 1820s Maine barn restoration and will offer a broad range of 100 percent Maine-made products, including fresh produce, meat, lobster, fish and handmade crafts. In accordance with the Lisbon Farmers Union mission statement, all products and produce must come from the local region, guaranteeing freshness and a sense of pride in the local economy.

“My hope is that people will have the opportunity to earn extra income by using their imagination whether it be gardening, woodworking, pickling, or fishing,” said founder Mark LaRoche in a prepared statement.

The marketplace will be open seven days a week, but the Lisbon Farmers Union will offer vendors the opportunity to sell without a charge at the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday farmers market.

LaRoche said he wants to “see the farmer reconnect back to the consumer the way it once was.”

For those who cannot attend the informational session but want more information, contact LaRoche at lisbonfarmersunion@gmail.com or call 577-9176.
