BRUNSWICK — Brunswick police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon at The Bank of Maine at 137 Maine St.

Cmdr. Mark Waltz said in a news release that a man entered the bank at 2:06 p.m. and showed a gun. He then demanded money and escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The bank is located in the heart of Brunswick’s downtown business district, near the Tontine Mall and Joshua’s Restaurant and Tavern.

Police described the suspect as a white man in his mid-20s, wearing a safari-type hat, tan neck warmer or scarf, tan jacket, white washed jeans and white sneakers.

No one was hurt during the robbery, which is being investigated by the police department and the FBI.
