AUGUSTA (AP) — The Democrat who won a special election last week has been sworn into the Maine House of Representatives.

Anne “Pinny” Beebe-Center was sworn in by Republican Gov. Paul LePage on Tuesday. She will represent District 93, which encompasses Rockland and Owls Head.

She says she’s ready to work with lawmakers from both parties to support a budget that helps the middle class and the state’s most vulnerable populations.

The seat was left open in January when Elizabeth Dickerson resigned because she was moving out of state. The two-term Democrat had said professional and personal opportunities had developed since her re-election in November.
