Police charged a Mars Hill woman with trafficking in bath salts and possession of oxycodone following a lengthy investigation into drug dealing in Aroostook County.

Police searched the Mars Hill home of Leda Giggey, 44, and found a small amount of baths alts, prescription pills including OxyContin and $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds, according to a press release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. The investigation included undercover drug purchases from the house, police said.

Giggey is being held at Aroostook County Jail pending a court appearance.

MDEA Commander Peter Arno said the use of the synthetic hallucinogen known as “bath salts,” or “monkey dust,” remains high in parts of Aroostook County and is a priority for the inter-agency drug task force.
