READFIELD — Jean Alice DuPont, 65, of Readfield, started her next chapter on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, with her loving family by her side.

Jean was born in Augusta, ME, on Aug. 5, 1949, a daughter of James R. Sr. and Odette M. (Arbour) DuPont. Jean was a Gardiner High School graduate, class of 1967.

Jean was a lifelong learner; she worked multiple jobs in the field of education, doing what she did best; assisting, guiding and helping others achieve their goals.

She enjoyed her gardens, her many animals, and spending time with her family and friends. Jean achieved her dream of having a small farm with beautiful views of Torsey Pond and Mt. Blue. She was an excellent cook, remarkable seamstress, and an avid reader.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, a previous husband Bruce Dunn, and a sister Sally Moore.

She is survived by her husband, partner and best friend Robert LaBreck of Readfield, brother Jim DuPont Jr. and wife Sue of Bath, two sisters: Judi Hudson and husband Jack of Brunswick, and Joyce McDougal and husband Joel of South Portland, her daughters: Kate Nelson and husband Al of South Gardiner, Sarah Gagnon of China, two sons: Mike Fredericks of Winslow, Nic LaBreck of New Jersey, her grandchildren: Jimmy Cooper, Chelsea Eastman, Emily Jamison, John and Andrea Fredericks, Madison and Taylor Gagnon and Brayden LaBreck, a great-grandson Bruce Eastman, several nieces and nephews, special family and friends: daughter-in-law Valerie Andreasen Fredericks, sister-in-law Patti Williams, as well as many friends she made during this chapter of her life.

Jean’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Health Reach Hospice for their exceptional care and support that was shown to Jean and her family.

A memorial visitation will be held at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, on Friday, April 17, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the spring at Rest Haven Cemetery in Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jean’s memory may be made to Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 1 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330-6119.
