A group of Sanford residents including several family members is under arrest on charges of trafficking heroin following a two month investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Sanford police.

Drug agents made undercover purchases of heroin from Derrick A. Gerrish, 25, Cynthia Powers, 49, and Donald Nordmann, 48, at 7 North St. in Sanford and then executed a search warrant Monday at 5 p.m., police said. All three were arrested on warrants charging heroin trafficking and are being held at York County Jail on $20,000 bail.

At the time, Erika Gerrish, 26, and Michael Gerrish, 46, were charged with possession of heroin after they were found to have the drug when confronted by police, investigators said. They are being held at the jail on $5,000 bail.

Derrek and Erika Gerrish are brother and sister and Michael Gerrish is their uncle, police said. All five arrested live at the North Street home.

Police seized 19 grams of heroin, worth about $4,000, as well as scales, packing material and sales ledgers.
