AUGUSTA – Maine’s free fishing weekend is continuing Sunday.
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says anyone can fish for free without a license on Maine’s waterways Sunday. The only exception is for those who have had their licenses suspended or revoked.
Officials say typical rules, regulations and bag and possession limits still apply. Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Chandler Woodcock says Maine is home to more than nine-tenths of the wild brook trout found in lakes and ponds. The state is also home to other popular gamefish such as landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass and rainbow trout.
