Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino is expected to join the Portland Sea Dogs on a rehab assignment at Hadlock Field when the Sea Dogs host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 7 p.m. today.
Victorino , 34, was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 24 with a left calf strain. He began his rehab assignment with the Pawtucket Red Sox on June 24, according to a Sea Dogs news release.
Victorino is in his third season with the Red Sox. This is his second time rehabbing with the Sea Dogs. He appeared in two games at Hadlock in May.
This will mark the fourth time this season the Sea Dogs have hosted a Red Sox player on a rehab assignment.
