PORTLAND — Casey Lawrence was untouchable over eight scoreless innings and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (63-63) shutout the Sea Dogs (47- 82) 3-0 on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. New Hampshire clinches the series win after taking the first two of the three-game series.

Lawrence (W, 12-12) allowed just five baserunners – three hits, two walks – over eight scoreless innings of work. Blake McFarland worked a scoreless ninth to earn his 14th save of the season.

The Sea Dogs were shutout for the 15th time this season, tying Richmond for most in the Eastern League. Portland finished the game 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and stranded four.

New Hampshire got on the board in the third inning off of Danny Rosenbaum (L, 0-7). With two on and nobody out, Melky Mesa hit an RBI double to score Jorge Flores. Two batters later, Kevin Nolan hit a sac fly to plate Roemon Fields and give the ‘Cats a 2-0 lead. New Hampshire added their third run on a solo homer by Dwight Smith Jr. off of Rosenbaum with two outs in the fifth.

Rosenbaum went a season high five innings for Portland and allowed three earned runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three.

The series concludes tomorrow night at Hadlock Field, first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Luis Diaz (1-10, 5.64) and Scott Barnes (3-2, 3.40) are the scheduled starting pitchers.
