OGUNQUIT — The Fourth Annual “Woodies in the Cove” Car Show, which was rained out last week, will take place Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 974 Post Road (U.S. Route 1), Wells, next door to McDonald’s. The show will be followed by a parade with police escort down U.S. Route 1 through Perkins Cove from 2-3 p.m.

The show is presented by the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit. L.F. “Sonny” Perkins organizer, of the show and chairman of the Historical Society of Wells and Ogunquit, said there still are more than 50 “woodies” from eight states expected at the show. “The most ever,” he said .

Woodies are motor vehicles made in part of real wood that were manufactured from the early years of the 20th century through 1953. Virtually all of the woody cars and trucks at the show have been restored and are operable.
