A man was rescued a couple hundred feet off Kettle Cove Monday afternoon after his kayak overturned, according to Cape Elizabeth fire chief Peter Gleeson.

Gleeson said a fisherman who was also in the cove and a police officer pulled the kayaker from the water around 2:30 p.m. The fire department did not release the name of the kayaker.

Gleeson said two people were kayaking together in separate kayaks, but only one of the kayakers fell into the water. The other kayaker’s name was also not available.

“A fisherman was there with his skiff. We put that in (the water) and he and one of the (local) police officers went out and got him,” said Gleeson.

Neither of the kayakers were injured, he said. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
