BIDDEFORD — Two Biddeford men were arrested last week in connection with a spate of burglaries of more than two dozen businesses across several Maine communities this year, state police said Saturday.

The value of the stolen property and damages to businesses exceeded $200,000, said police.

Michael Warner, 37, and Taylor Shultz, 34, were arrested in an apartment on Granite Street Friday in connection with more than 25 commercial burglaries throughout central, mid-coastal and southern Maine, police said, adding that none of the burglaries occurred in Biddeford.

More than 80 items of evidence, including stolen property and drugs, were seized by police Friday. A Maine State Police task force made the arrests with the help of local, county and federal law enforcement agencies.

Warner and Shultz have been charged with possession of stolen property but additional charges are pending, police said. A third man is also being sought in connection with the burglaries.

Warner and Shultz are each being held on $15,000 cash bail at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland. They were scheduled to make their first court appearance this afternoon.
