BANGOR – Prosecutors say witnesses in the trial of a Bangor man charged with manslaughter in the death of his 3-month-old son heard a loud noise coming from a bedroom that contained the man and infant.

The first day of the trial of Dustin Brown is Tuesday. He was 18 when his son died nearly three years ago. WCSH-TV reported that Brown’s attorney says the child’s death is a “medical mystery” not caused by the father.

Bangor police say they responded to the home for a baby who was not breathing on Nov. 25, 2012. The infant was taken the hospital, where he died.

Brown told police the baby went limp during a feeding. An autopsy indicates infant Xander Brown died from trauma.

The trial is a bench trial with no jury.
